부쉬 대통령은 17일, 주례 라디오 연설에서 이번주 예정에 없이 이라크를 방문한 사실을 부각시키며, 누리 알-말리키 이라크 총리의 강력한 성격과 결단력을 직접 볼 수 있었다고 말했습니다.
부쉬 대통령은 미국은 계속해서 이라크 정부가 안보를 강화하고, 부정부패를 척결하며 인권유린자들을 처벌하고 경제개발을 이루도록 지원할 것이라고 말했습니다.

President Bush says challenges remain in Iraq, but the United States will continue to support efforts to bring peace and security to the country.
In his radio address today (Saturday), the president also recapped his surprise visit to Iraq earlier in the week. He said he was able to see firsthand the strong character and determination of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
Mr. Bush said the United States will continue to help the Iraqi government improve security, end corruption, punish human rights abusers and develop the economy.
He also pledged continued support for the prime minister in reining in illegal militias, building a judicial system, and promoting reconciliation.
But he acknowledged serious challenges remain, including what he described as determined enemies that are intent on killing the innocent.
