이라크의 전 독재자 사담 후세인에 대한 주민 대학살 관련혐의 재판이 내년 1월 24일까지 휴정됐습니다.
사담 후세인에 대한 지난 이틀 동안의 재판에서 1982년 이라크 북부지방의 두자일 마을 주민 대량학살 사건에 관한 몇 사람의 증언이 있었습니다.
한 증인은 자신이 보는 앞에서 자신의 조모가 고문당했고 자신의 아버지는 사담의 보안요원들에 의해 처형당했다고 증언했으며 세 번째 증인은 당시 사담 후세인 대통령 암살기도와 관련된 혐의로 구금된 사람들에 대한 전기충격 등 갖가지 고문자행을 증언했습니다.

The trial of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein for alleged crimes against humanity has been adjourned to January 24th, following two days of testimony from witnesses to a 1982 massacre in northern Iraq. There was no immediate explanation for the postponement.
Earlier today (Thursday), Saddam again questioned the validity of witness testimony, and repeated claims he has been tortured while in U.S. custody. U.S. officials have strongly denied the accusation. Three prosecution witnesses described how their captors administered electric shock and melted plastic pipes onto their skin, following a failed 1982 assassination attempt on Saddam in (the village of) Dujail.
One witness described watching his grandmother tortured and his father executed by Saddam's security forces. Saddam argued that the witness was too young at age eight in 1982 to remember such events. Saddam and seven co-defendants are accused of ordering or carrying out the torture and the massacre of more than 140 Shi'ite Muslims in Dujail.
