로버츠 신임 대법원장은 백악관에서 열린 선서식에서 대법원장으로서 직무를 수행하기 위해 최선을 다할 것이라고 말했습니다. 부시 대통령은 로버츠 대법원장이 성실하고 매우 겸손하며 재능이 뛰어난 사람이라고 말했습니다.
이에 앞서 상원은 존 로버츠 판사에 대한 인준 표결에서 상당수 민주당 의원들이 그의 대법원장 지명을 지지함에 따라 찬성 78, 반대 22의 압도적 표차로 통과시켰습니다.

John Roberts has been sworn-in as the next Chief Justice of the United States -- hours after the Senate voted to confirm the conservative appellate judge.
At a White House ceremony today (Thursday), Mr. Roberts took the oath of office, and pledged to do the best job he can do as Chief Justice.
President Bush called Mr. Roberts a man of integrity, deep humility, and uncommon talent.
Earlier Thursday, Senators approved the Roberts nomination on a 78-to-22 vote, with many Democrats joining majority Republicans in elevating Judge Roberts to the Supreme Court.
Mr. Roberts replaces the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who died earlier this month.
Supreme Court justices retain their seat until they die or resign, meaning the 50-year-old Mr. Roberts could lead the nation's highest court for decades, shaping important social issues for Americans.
