라이스 국무 장관은 10일 베이징에서 후진타오 국가 주석을 비롯한 중국 고위 관계관들을 만난 뒤 기자들에게 중국의 이같은 군사력 증강은 이 지역의 힘의 균형에 관한 우려를 제기하는 것이라고 말했습니다.
라이스 장관은 또 그가 중국 지도자들과 인권에 관해서 논의했으며, 망명중인 티베트의 정신적 지도자, 달라이 라마에게 손을 내밀도록 촉구했다고 밝혔습니다.
라이스 국무 장관은 이날 중으로 태국을 방문해 탁신 시나와트라 총리와 회담하며, 뒤이어 도꾜로 향합니다.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Washington is concerned about China's significant military buildup, but does not see Beijing as a threat.
After meetings today (Sunday) with President Hu Jintao and other officials in Beijing, Mr. Rice told reporters the Chinese military buildup raises concerns about the balance of power in the region.
The top U.S. diplomat also says she discussed human rights with the Chinese leaders and called on them to reach out to Tibetan leader-in-exile, the Dalai Lama.
Beijing regards the Dalai Lama, who lives in India, as a separatist.
Ms. Rice will be in Thailand later today for talks with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra before traveling on to Tokyo.
