North and South Korea have ended their latest round of talks with an agreement to meet again, but there was no mention of Pyongyang's controversial nuclear program.
The two sides agreed to resume cabinet-level talks next month, and South Korea agreed to ship some 200-thousand tons of fertilizer to the North starting Saturday.
The annoucement came hours after the American embassy in Tokyo confirmed that two U.S. officials met with North Korean diplomats in New York last Friday. An embassy spokesman said the meeting was used to convey U.S. policy, not negotiate.
The spokesman gave no other details. Japan's Kyodo news agency cites anonymous sources as saying that Pyongyang will have a response to the U.S. negotiations in two weeks.
