후진타오 중국 국가주석과 고이즈미 준이치로 일본 총리의 정상회담이 23일 인도네시아 자카르타에서 열렸습니다.
인도네시아 자카르타에서 열린 아시아-아프리카 정상회의 후 자카르타의 한 호텔에서 한 시간 가량 진행된 이번 회담에서 후진타오 중국 국가주석은 일본의 과거사에 대한 반성은 앞으로 행동으로 뒷받침되어야 할 것이라면서 중국 국민과 다른 나라 국민들을 자극하는 행동을 다시는 하지 말아야 할 것이라고 말했습니다.
후진타오 주석은 중국과 일본간에 점증하는 갈등은 중일관계에 나쁜 영향을 미칠 것이라고 강조했습니다.
고이즈미 총리는 이번 회담에서 일본과 중국 두나라의 우호관계가 이 지역과 국제적으로 갖고 있는 중요성을 강조했다고 말했습니다.
중일 정상회담은 최근 일본의 역사교과서 왜곡으로 빚어진 중국내의 대규모 반일시위가 벌어진 후 처음 열린 것입니다.
이에 앞서 고이즈미 준이치로 일본 총리는 22일 자카르타에서 개막된 아시아-아프리카 정상회의 연설에서 “일본 국민은 과거 일본이 식민지 지배와 침략으로 인해 많은 국가, 특히 아시아 지역 국민들에게 다대한 손해와 고통을 안겨준데 대해 일본 국민은 통절한 반성과 마음으로부터의 사과를 그들의 가슴 속에 새기고 있다”고 사과했습니다.

Chinese President Hu Jintao says Japan should "translate into action" its remorse recently expressed for the country's wartime history.
Following a meeting today (Saturday) in Jakarta with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, the Chinese leader said that Tokyo should never again do anything to offend "the people of China and the people of other Asian countries".
The Chinese leader called for a resolution of the growing rift between the two countries, saying that otherwise it could affect Sino-Japanese relations.
In commenting on the talks, Mr. Koizumi says he stressed the regional and international importance of friendly relations between his country and China.
It was the first meeting of top leaders from the two countries since recent massive anti-Japan protests erupted across China after Tokyo's approval of history texts that downplay Japan's wartime atrocities.
Friday, Mr. Koizumi repeated an apology for the atrocities.
