Today’s expression is clam up. When you clam up, you suddenly refuse to speak or reply. It simply means to get quiet and say nothing. People usually clam up because they don’t want to talk about a particular subject, or they are embarrassed or nervous about something. Clam up on something 은 대화 하다가 비밀을 말하게 될까 봐 갑자기 입을 다문다는 표현입니다. 아울러 당혹스럽고 불안해서 침묵을 지키는 경우에도 쓸 수 있고요. 이야기하고 싶지 않은 주제가 나와서 말을 멈추게 될 때도 사용할 수 있습니다. Clam은 조개죠.
