Show off

Mike: Hey congratulations on winning 1st place in the swimming contest.

Jason: Oh, you heard about it? Well, thank you.

Jason: I know, but you know I’m not a show-off.

Mike: That’s true.

Mike가 “Why are you so shy about it? If I were you, I would be showing off the 1st place medal to everyone. 라고 하자 Jason 이 “I know, but you know I’m not a show-off. 오늘의 표현은 show off입니다. Show off means to display or cause someone or something to be seen and admired. So if you are showing off yourself to others, it means that you are trying to impress others with you abilities or possessions. Also keep in mind that you can use ‘show-off’ as a noun. So if you are a show-off it means that you brag or flaunt about something in order to bring attention to yourself. Let me give you some examples. “Heidi is showing off to her friends that she bought the latest smartphone.” “Alex is such a show-off.” Now you know what the expression ‘show off’ means right? Then we will listen to the conversation for the last time.
