North Korean Leader Could Travel to Russia For May Celebration - 2005-03-30


Russian news reports say North Korean leader Kim Jong-il may travel to Russia to attend ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of defeat of Nazi Germany in May.

The Interfax News Agency quotes Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy to the Far East as saying an invitation has been sent to Kim Jong-il to attend the celebration. Konstantin Pulikovsky says he believes the Korean leader will accept.

Other world leaders invited to attend the May 9th celebration include President Bush and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun.
