Russia has announced it will hold its first-ever joint military exercises with China next year on Chinese soil.
Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Monday the exercises will showcase Russian military hardware, including submarines and strategic bombers. He said the war games will take place during the second half of 2005.
Chinese officials announced the exercises earlier this month, but did not make any details available.
Russia and China were one-time fierce rivals who have since become political and military allies.
China is also the biggest customer of Russian military equipment, buying billions of dollars in weapons, planes, and ships.
