Vietnam has confirmed that several North Koreans have entered the French and Swedish Embassies in Hanoi, apparently seeking refuge.
A Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman (Le Dung) says Hanoi is looking to resolve the issue in accordance with Vietnamese and international laws, as well as on a humanitarian basis.
Four North Koreans are believed to be in the Swedish Embassy in Hanoi, while another two are inside the French Embassy.
Human rights groups and aid workers say hundreds of thousands of North Koreans have fled to China, with many seeking passage to South Korea. Other North Koreans are believed to have entered Vietnam, Laos and other Southeast Asian countries.
