에디오피아 정부가 수일 내로 소말리아로부터 에디오피아군을 철수시킬 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
에디오피아 외무부는 3일 발표한 성명에서 그 동안 에디오피아군이 소말리아에서 벌이던 임무를 아프리카연합의 평화유지군과 소말리아 과도정부의 정부군에게 넘겨주었다고 밝혔습니다.
와데 베레이 에디오피아 군 대변인은 에디오피아군이 소말리아에서 철수한 뒤 벌어질 권력공백 사태를 막기 위해서 필요한 조치를 취했다고 미국의 소리 방송에 밝혔습니다.
에디오피아 외무성 성명은 우간다와 부룬디 정부가 아프리카 연합 평화유지군에 더 많은 병력을 보낼 것이라고 밝혔지만, 베레이 대변인은 이에 대해 언급하는 것을 거부했습니다.
에디오피아는 지난 2006년 12월, 이슬람 법정 연합이 소말리아 일부 지역에서 이슬람법에 의한 통치를 실시하자 소말리아에 군대를 파견했습니다.
이와 함께 소말리아에는 유엔이 지지하는 과도정부가 출범했지만, 이 과도정부는 지난 1991년 이후 소말리아를 지배하고 있는 무정부 상태를 수습하지 못하고 있습니다.

Ethiopia says the withdrawal of its troops from Somalia will be completed "within days."
In a statement Saturday, the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry said military commanders handed over their responsibilities to the African Union peacekeeping mission, known as AMISON, and the Somali transitional government troops.
Ministry spokesman Wahde Belay told VOA sufficient precautions have been made to prevent a power vacuum in Somalia after Ethiopian troops are gone.
He declined to elaborate, but the statement said that Uganda and Burundi had confirmed their willingness to contribute more troops to the AU effort.
Ethiopia sent troops to Somalia in December 2006 after an Islamic Courts Union had imposed Sharia law in parts of the country.
It also installed a United Nations-backed but weak transitional government, but was unable to provide stability in the lawless country, which has been without an effective administration since 1991.
