일본 내각이 9천8백억 달러 규모의 2009년 예산안을 의결했습니다. 이번 예산은 일본 역사상 최대 규모로, 세계 2위인 일본 경제의 침체를 막기 위한 경기 부양책 등을 담고 있습니다.
아소 타로 총리가 24일 언론에 공개한 새 예산안은 2008년에 비해 지출을 6% 이상 늘렸으며, 이는 사상 최대 증가 폭입니다. 지출 증가분 중 일부는 갈수록 고령화하는 일본의 연금 사업에 투입될 계획입니다.
하지만 국방과 외교, 개발 지원 등의 예산은 4% 이상 삭감했습니다.
아소 총리는 이번 예산안이 "일본 국민의 삶을 보호하기 위한 확고한 방안을 담고 있다"고 말했습니다.

Japan's Cabinet has approved an unprecedented budget proposal for 2009, aimed at lifting the world's second-biggest economy from a deepening recession.
Prime Minister Taro Aso unveiled the 980 billion dollar budget to reporters in Tokyo today (Wednesday).
The budget increases overall spending by more than six percent from 2008, the biggest spending increase in the nation's history. Part of the increase will go to boost the national pension scheme for Japan's rapidly aging population.
But the proposal cuts spending for defense, foreign aid and development assistance by four percent.
Mr. Aso calls the budget a "bold measure to protect people's lives," and admits it will derail efforts to curb the nation's ballooning debt.
