밀로 듀카노빅 몬테네그로 총리는 15일, 현재 유럽연합 의장국인 프랑스의 니콜라스 사르코지 대통령 앞으로 회원국 가입 신청서를 제출했습니다.
듀카노빅 총리는 기자들에게, 몬테네그로가 유럽연합에 가입하기 위해 직면할 여러 가지 어려움을 잘 알고 있다면서, 어려움에 대처할 준비가 돼 있다고 강조했습니다.
몬테네그로는 유럽연합에 가입하기 위한 최초 단계로 지난해 유럽연합과의 연대를 강화하는 협정에 서명한 바 있습니다.

Montenegro has formally applied for European Union membership.
The country's Prime Minister, Milo Djukanovic, today (Monday) presented his country's application in Paris to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose country currently holds the rotating EU presidency.
In comments to reporters, the Montenegrin leader said his country is aware it faces a number of difficulties, but he stressed its readiness to meet all of the challenges it will encounter.
The former Yugoslav republic signed an accord on building closer EU ties last year as a first step toward membership.
Three other Balkan countries, Croatia, Turkey and Macedonia, currently make up the list of EU candidates from the area. News reports from the French capital say the Montenegrin move is expected to encourage other Balkan countries such as Albania and Serbia to also formally seek EU entry.
