미국의 콘돌리자 라이스 국무장관은 파키스탄에 대해 인도 뭄바이 테러 공격 수사에 협력하겠다는 다짐을 지킬 것을 촉구했습니다.
라이스 장관은 7일 미국 텔레비전 방송들에 출연해 뭄바이에서의 공격이 이른바 비국가적 행위자들에 의해 자행됐다 할지라도 파키스탄은 책임이 있다고 강조했습니다.
라이스 장관은 지난 주 파키스탄을 방문했을 때 미국은 파키스탄이 행동을 취할 것으로 보고 있다는 점을 분명히 했다고 덧붙였습니다.
라이스 장관은 70여명이 사망한 뭄바이 테러 공격 이후 촉발된 양국간 긴장을 해소하기 위해 지난 주 인도와 파키스탄의 정부 관계자들을 만났습니다.
인도는 뭄바이 공격은 파키스탄에 본부를 둔 과격단체의 소행이라고 비난하고 있습니다.

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama has chosen a critic of the Bush administration's Iraq war strategy to be the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
Mr. Obama praised retired Army General Eric Shinseki in a press conference today (Sunday), saying no one would question Shinseki's courage to stand up for U.S. troops and veterans.
General Shinseki was the army's chief of staff at the start of the Iraq war in 2003. He lost his job in the Bush administration because he said more troops were needed for the invasion than his boss, then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, wanted to send.
Mr. Obama says Shinseki was right.
General Shinseki pledged today (Sunday) to shape a "21st century" Veterans Affairs department to help returning troops find jobs and get the care they need.
