라이스 장관은 모든 책임 있는 국가들이 이번 조사에 반드시 협력해야 하며, 특히 파키스탄 정부는 긴급하고 확고한 행동에 나서야 한다고 말했습니다. 라이스 장관은 또 170명이 넘는 사망자 중 미국인도 포함됐으며, 따라서 미국도 이번 사건 조사에 특별한 관심을 갖고 있다고 말했습니다.
라이스 장관은 이 날 프라납 무케르지 인도 외무장관과 공동 기자회견을 갖고, 인도 국민들에게 조의를 표했습니다.
무케르지 장관은 테러 공격자들이 파키스탄에서 왔다는 데 의심의 여지가 없다고 말했습니다. 한편 파키스탄은 어떠한 정부 기관도 이번 테러에 연루되지 않았다는 입장입니다.
라이스 장관은 4일 파키스탄을 방문할 예정입니다.

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Pakistan bears a "special responsibility" to help the investigation into last week's deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Rice said all responsible nations must cooperate with the investigation, but she asked the Islamabad government especially to act with "urgency and resolve." She said the United States has a special interest in this probe because U.S. citizens are among the more than 170 dead.
Rice offered condolences to the people of India during a press conference in New Delhi today (Wednesday) with her Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee.
Mukherjee told reporters that he has no doubt the attackers came from Pakistan. Islamabad says its state agencies were not involved.
In a related development, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, met with Pakistani government and military officials today in Islamabad. He urged them to aggressively pursue any ties between the attackers and groups based in Pakistan, and he thanked them for their willingness to assist in the investigation.
Rice is expected to fly to Pakistan on Thursday.
