The "Herald" newspaper reports today (Monday) that the Zimbabwe National Water Authority stopped pumping because it ran out of a key purification chemical.
U.N. officials have tied the cholera outbreak to the lack of clean drinking water and the steep decline in the country's infrastructure and economy.
Meanwhile, the British charity Save the Children says another highly contagious infection -- anthrax -- has killed two children and one adult in Zimbabwe's Zambezi Valley, and could wipe out 60-thousand livestock.
The group reported today (Monday) thatpeople are so hungry, they are eating the meat of dead animals, even if the animals were infected with disease.
