태국 텔레비전 방송은 국민민주주의연대가 이끄는 반정부 시위대가 친정부 시위대에 발포하는 장면을 방영했습니다. 이날 충돌은 친정부 시위대가 임시 정부청사가 위치한 방콕 구공항 청사로 향하던 중 반정부 시위대와 마주치면서 시작됐습니다.
솜차이 옹사왓 총리는 시위대가 지난 8월 방콕 중심가의 정부청사를 점거하자 외곽의 '돈 므엉' 공항을 임시청사로 사용해 왔습니다.
반정부 시위대는 최근 현 정부의 퇴진을 위한 최종 압박단계에 들어갔다며 시위 활동을 강화해 왔습니다. 앞서 24일 국민민주주의연대는 의사당을 봉쇄해 이날 열릴 예정이었던 상.하원 연석회의가 무산됐습니다.
Thai anti-government protesters have opened fire on government supporters as the two rival sides battled on a major highway in the capital, Bangkok.
Television footage showed members of the People's Alliance for Democracy firing shots at government supporters. The two sides clashed on a highway that leads to Bangkok's old airport, which is currently being used as embattled Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat's temporary office.
Mr. Somchai set up offices at the (Don Muang)domestic airport on the outskirts of the capital, Bangkok, after protesters occupied the prime minister's compound in August.
In recent days, protests in Thailand have intensified as anti-government supporters say they are making a "final push" to remove Mr. Somchai from office.
On Monday, opposition supporters forced parliament to delay its session by blocking access to the building.
