예멘 선적 소형 화물선을 납치한 소말리아 해적이 2백만 달러의 몸값을 요구했다고 예멘 당국이 밝혔습니다.
예멘 관영 통신은 아데나호가 납치당시 5백 톤의 강철을 싣고 소코르타 섬으로 향하는 중이었다고 밝혔습니다.
아데나호는 일주일 전 납치됐지만 25일에야 납치 사실이 알려졌습니다. 예멘 당국은 피랍 선박에 소말리아인 3명과 예멘인 2명, 그리고 파타마인 2명이 탑승하고 있었다고 밝혔습니다.
소말리아 해적은 현재 1억 달러 상당의 원유를 실은 사우디 유조선을 비롯해 15척의 선박을 억류하고 있습니다. 소말리아 해적은 사우디 유조선 반환 조건으로 1천5백만 달러 혹은 2천5백만 달러를 요구하고 있는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
Officials in Yemen say Somali pirates are demanding a ransom of two-million dollars for a cargo ship they seized in the Gulf of Aden.
Yemen's official (SABA) news agency says the ship, the Adena, was carrying more than 500 tons of steel to the island of Socotra when it was hijacked.
The hijacking occurred about a week ago but was not reported until today (Tuesday).
Officials say the ship was carrying a crew of three Somalis, two Yemenis, and two Panamanians.
Somali pirates are now holding about 15 ships in all, including a giant Saudi tanker carrying 100-million dollars worth of oil. There are conflicting reports on whether the pirates are demanding 15- or 25-million dollars for the release of that ship and its crew.
