선거위원회 위원장은 23일 방글라데시의 두 주요 정당들과 협의를 거쳐 투표일이 재조정됐다고 말했습니다.
선거가 지연됨에 따라 후보들의 출마 신청 시한도 11월 30일 까지 연장됐습니다.
이번 총선은 방글라데시 군이 정치적인 폭력 사태를 종식시키기 위해 비상사태령을 내린 지 거의 2년 만에 방글라데시의 민주주의를 회복시키기 위한 것입니다.
주요 정당들은 선거가 실시되기 앞서 국가 비상사태를 해제할 것을 요구하고 있습니다.

The election chief in Bangladesh says the country's long-awaited parliamentary elections will be held December 29th, 11 days later than originally scheduled.
The election commissioner (A.T.M. Shamsul Huda) said today (Sunday) the vote was rescheduled after consultations with the country's two main political parties.
The deadline for submitting nominations also was extended to November 30th.
Former Prime Minster Khaleda Zia had asked for the delay, saying her Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allies needed more time to prepare for the vote.
The elections are intended to restore democracy to Bangladesh nearly two years after the army imposed emergency rule to end political violence.
The main political parties are demanding the state of emergency be lifted before the election. Authorities have said it might be lifted after the nominating process.
