중국의 후진타오 국가주석이 다음주 미국 워싱턴에서 열리는 주요20개국 정상회의에서 각국 정상들과 양자회동을 가질 예정인 가운데, 바락 오바마 미국 대통령 당선자와의 회동 가능성도 타진하고 있다고 중국 정부가 밝혔습니다.
중국 외교부의 허야페이 부부장은 오바마 당선자 측과 회동 준비를 위한 조치를 취하고 있다며 이같이 말했습니다.
한편 중국 외교부는 오바마 당선자가 대통령에 취임하면 타이완 문제를 적절하게 다뤄줄 것을 요구했습니다. 중국 외교부의 칭강 대변인은 오바마 당선자가 타이완의 독립에 반대하고 타이완에 대한 무기 판매도 중단할 것을 촉구했습니다.

China says that while President Hu Jintao will hold bilateral meetings during a G-20 summit in Washington next week, a possible meeting with U.S. President-elect Barack Obama is still in the works.
Deputy Foreign Minister He Yafei told reporters in Beijing today (Thursday) that the two sides are taking steps to arrange a meeting.
World leaders are to discuss a response to the global financial crisis at the Washington summit for the Group of 20 industrialized and emerging countries on November 15th.
Meanwhile, China's Foreign Ministry urged Mr. Obama to properly handle the issue of Taiwan when he steps into office. A spokesman (Qin Gang) called on the president-elect to oppose Taiwan independence and halt arms sales to the island.
The spokesman added that U.S. handling of Taiwan is key to good relations between Beijing.
