일주일여 전 아프가니스탄에서 피랍된 방글라데시 구호요원 2명이 1일 석방됐습니다.
방글라데시 농촌 개발위원회, BRAC는 2일 두 명의 지역 담당자들이 전날 밤 가즈니 지방에서 석방됐다고 밝혔습니다.
BRAC 관계자들은 이들 구호요원들이 현재 카불 사무소에서 안전하게 있다고 밝혔으나 석방 조건 등 상세한 내용은 공개하지 않았습니다.
두 구호요원은 지난 달 23일 가즈니 지방에서 피랍됐습니다. 며칠 뒤 BRAC는 성명을 발표하고 아프가니스탄 가즈니 지역의 구호 사업을 관장하는 요원들이 아프가니스탄으로 이동 중이었다며 피랍 사실을 알렸습니다.
BRAC는 지난 2002년부터 아프가니스탄에서 활동해왔습니다. 이 단체는 아프가니스탄 빈곤층을 돕기 위한 소액 금융사업과 개발 사업을 진행 중입니다.

Two Bangladeshi aid workers
kidnapped in Afghanistan more than a week ago have been freed.
Their employer, the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee, or BRAC, announced
today (Sunday) that the two regional managers (Akhter Ali and
Mohammad Shahjahan Ali)were released Saturday night in Ghazni province.
BRAC officials say the workers are now safe at the aid organization's Kabul
office. The officials did not reveal details about the kidnappers or the
circumstances surrounding the hostages' release.
The two workers were abducted in Ghazni October 23rd.
BRAC has been operating in Afghanistan since 2002. It offers micro-finance
programs and development assistance to poor Afghans.
Also today(Sunday), NATO said its troopswounded five Afghan
Army soldiers in a friendly fire incident in Konar province.
In a statement, NATO expressed deep regret for the encounter, saying members of
its International Security Assistance Force mistook the Afghan troops for
anti-Afghan forces.
