맥코넬 국장은 어제 미국 테네시 주 내쉬빌에서 열린 회의에서 이같은 견해를 밝혔습니다.
맥코넬 국장은 오는 2025년까지 중동과 그밖의 지역에서 테러 단체들이 늘어나고 영향력을 강화할 수 있는 조건이 양호하다고 말했습니다. 맥코넬 국장은 또 중국이 오는 2025년까지 경제와 군사 면에서 강대국으로 성장할 것이며, 러시아와 인도가 중국 경제에 강력한 경쟁국이 될 것이라고 내다봤습니다.

The top U.S. intelligence official says the next president will face a
host of foreign policy challenges, including new and stronger terrorist groups
and the growing economic rise of developing nations such as China.
Mike McConnell, the Director of National Intelligence, shared his views during
a speech Thursday at a conference in (the southeastern city/state of) Nashville,
Tennessee.
McConnell said conditions are favorable for terrorist groups to grow in number
and influence in the Middle East and other areas well into 2025. He says
advances in science and technology will give these groups the ability to carry
out large scale biological or radioactive attacks.
McConnell predicts China will be an economic and military power by 2025, with
Russia and India also strong competitors in the global economy. He says such
trends will lead to a diminished U.S. influence.
