홍콩에서 유통되는 중국산 달걀에서 화학성분인 멜라민이 또 검출됐다고 홍콩 당국이 밝혔습니다.
당국은 문제의 달걀이 중국 후베이성의 한 양계장에서 생산된 것으로 허용 기준치인 2.5ppm을 초과한 3ppm에 가까운 멜라민이 검출됐다고 밝혔습니다.
홍콩에서 유통되는 중국산 달걀에서 멜라민이 검출된 것은 최근들어 두 번째입니다. 이로 인해 세계최대 할인업체 월마트는 중국 한웨이 양계 회사가 납품한 달걀을 홍콩 전매장에서 철수시켰습니다.
전문가들은 중국에서 농약 혹은 가축 사료에 멜라민이 자주 첨가돼 왔다고 지적하고 있습니다.

Authorities in Hong Kong say they
have discovered more eggs from mainland China contaminated with an industrial
chemical that has sparked Beijing's latest product safety scandal.
Authorities say the eggs were processed by a plant (Jingshan Pengchang
Agricultural Product Company) based in the central Chinese province of
Hubei. Tests found nearly three parts per million of melamine in the batch,
just above Hong Kong's legal limit of two-point-five parts per million.
This is the second batch of tainted eggs discovered in Hong Kong in recent
days. U.S.-based retailer Wal-Mart has removed a brand of eggs from its Hong
Kong stores produced by the Hanwei group, based in the northeastern city of
Dalian.
Experts say that melamine, or derivatives of it, often are added to pesticides
and animal feeds in China.
