캄보디아군 당국은 태국군 병력이 훈센 캄보디아 총리가 철수시한으로 제시한 14일 정오 직전에 양국 국경 분쟁지역에서 철수했다고 밝혔습니다.
당국은 캄보디아와 태국간 국경분쟁의 주요 원인이 돼 온 프레아 비헤아르 사원 인근이 태국군 철수 후에 정상화됐다고 전했습니다.
훈센 캄보디아 총리는 13일 태국군이 국경에서 24시간내에 철수하지 않으면 이 지역이 "죽음의 지역"이 될 것이라고 경고했습니다. 훈센 총리는 84명의 태국군 병력이 13일 국경을 넘어 캄보디아 영토내로 1킬로미터 가량 진입했으며 캄보디아군과 불과 40미터를 사이에 두고 대치중이라고 밝힌 바 있습니다.

Cambodian army officials say Thai soldiers have left a disputed border zone,
just before a deadline set by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
The officials say the disputed area near the Preah Vihear temple returned to
normal after the troops backed off Tuesday. The 900-year-old temple is at the
center of a long-standing border dispute between the countries.
On Monday, the Cambodian leader warned Thailand to withdraw its soldiers from
the area within 24 hours, or face what he called a "life and death battleground."
Mr. Hun Sen said that 84 Thai soldiers crossed about one kilometer inside
Cambodia on Monday. Thailand says its troops were on patrol.
Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat discussed the issue with the Thai
military Tuesday. He proposed a joint committee to oversee troop withdrawals.
