중앙통신은 김 위원장이 리재일 노동당 1부부장을 비롯한 당중앙위원회 책임간부들과 관계부문 일꾼들과 함께 축구경기를 관람했다고 밝혔으나, 구체적인 관람일시와 장소는 밝히지 않았습니다. 또 이 자리에 참석한 김정일 위원장의 사진이나 화면도 공개되지 않았습니다.
한편 김정일 위원장은 지난 8월 중순 이후 공개석상에 모습을 보이지 않았습니다.
김정일 위원장의 건강상태에 대한 의혹은 그가 지난 달 북한 건국 60주년 기념 행사장에 불참함으로써 증폭된 바 있습니다.

North Korea's official news agency says leader Kim Jong Il
has made his first public appearance in more than a month -- attending a
football (soccer) match today(Saturday).
The Korean Central News Agency says the match was held to mark the 62nd
anniversary of the founding of the university named after Mr. Kim's late
father, North Korea founder Kim Il Sung. There was no immediate word on whether
any pictures or video were taken of Mr. Kim, who has not been seen in public
since mid-August.
U.S. and South Korean officials have said the 66-year-old Kim Jong Il suffered
a stroke, but North Korea has denied that he is ill. Officials there call
reports about his condition part of a "conspiracy."
Speculation about Mr. Kim's health intensified last month after he missed the
60th anniversary celebration of North Korea's founding.
