지난 8일 중국 북부 지방에서 발생한 산사태로 최소 1백78명이 숨지고 35명이 부상한 것으로 집계됐습니다.
중국 관영 신화통신은 12일 사체 27구가 발견됨에 따라 산시성에서 발생한 산사태 사망자 수가 늘었다며 이같이 보도했습니다.
신화통신은 불법 채굴 광산 폐기물과 진흙 더미가 지난 8일 1천여 명이 거주하는 마을을 덮쳤다고 보도한 바 있습니다.
산사태가 발생했을 당시 시장에는 사람들로 가득했던 것으로 알려졌습니다. 당국자들은 수백 명이 사망했을 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
중국 안전당국 관계자들은 이번 사고가 불법 채굴 때문이라고 비난했습니다. 경찰은 광산 사장을 포함해 광산 관계자 12명을 체포했습니다.*****
Chinese state media say a massive mudslide that buried a village in
northern China has killed at least 178 people and injured 35 others.
The official Xinhua news agency says the death toll from the landslide in Shanxi
province rose today (Friday),after 27 more bodies were found.
State media have reported that the wall of waste and mud from an illegal mine
plowed into a village of about one thousand residents on Monday. An outdoor
market was said to have been packed with people when the landslide occurred.
Officials have said that hundreds could have been killed. But Xinhua says 90
percent of the area covered by the landslide already has been searched.
