민족민주동맹은 감바리 특사가 출국한 하루 뒤인 24일 성명을 발표하고 그는 버마의 주요 결정권자들을 만나지 않았다며 이 같이 주장했습니다.
민족민주동맹의 니안 윈 대변인은 감바리 특사가 소수 민족 단체장들을 만나지 않았으며, 버마 지도자 탄쉐 장군도 만나지 못했다고 말했습니다.
가택 연금중인 버마 민주화 운동 지도자 아웅산 수치 여사도 감바리 특사를 만나기를 거부했습니다.
감바리 특사는 버마 군부가 지난 해 민주화 시위를 유혈 탄압한 이래 버마를 4번 방문했지만, 지금까지 아무런 협상 결과도 내놓지 못하고 있습니다.

A spokesman for Burma's opposition
National League for Democracy says U.N. special envoy Ibrahim Gambari's recent
trip to the country was a failure.
In comments to reporters today (Sunday), one day after Gambari's
departure, Nyan Win gave rare criticism of the U.N. official, saying he failed
because he did not meet with key decision makers.
Nyan Win says Gambari was unable to meet with key leaders of minority ethnic
groups and failed to see the country's senior leader, General Than Shwe.
Detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi refused to meet with Gambari.
Gambari has visited Burma four times since the country's leadership carried out
a bloody crackdown on democracy protests last year. So far, talks have yielded
few results.
