네팔 경찰이 수도 카트만두 주재 중국 대사관 밖에서 시위를 벌이려던 티베트 인들을 발로 차면서 구타했다고 목격자들이 전했습니다.
목격자들은10일 경찰과 몸싸움을 벌이던 일부 시위자들이 다쳤다고 말했습니다.
경찰은 티베트를 통치하는 중국을 비판하는 구호를 외치던 수녀들과 성직자들을 포함해 티베트인 적어도 230명을 연행했다고 밝혔습니다.
네팔에는 1959년 중국 통치에 맞선 봉기가 실패로 돌아간 뒤 고향을 떠나 탈출했던 2만명 가량의 티베트인들이 살고 있습니다.
네팔 당국자들은 지난 8일 베이징에서 올림픽이 개막된 가운데 카트만두에서 시위를 벌이던 티베트인 천 3백명 가량을 연행하기도 했습니다.

Witnesses say Nepalese police have kicked and beaten Tibetans trying to protest outside the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
Witnesses say some of the protesters were hurt in the scuffle today (Sunday).
Police say they rounded up at least 230 Tibetans, including nuns and monks, who were shouting slogans critical of Chinese rule in Tibet.
Nepal is home to about 20-thousand Tibetans who fled their homeland after a failed uprising against Chinese rule in 1959.
Many of them have been protesting almost every day for the past five months, since Chinese forces brutally suppressed demonstrations in the Tibetan capital, Lhasa.
On Friday, Nepalese authorities detained about 13-hundred Tibetans who were protesting in Kathmandu as China opened the Olympic Games in Beijing.
