2010년까지 이라크 주둔 미군 전투병을 모두 철수하는 내용의 미국과 이라크간 안보협정 타결이 임박했다고 이라크 당국이 밝혔습니다.
또 내년 6월 30일까지는 이란의 각 도시에 주둔하고 있는 미군 병사들을 철수시키고 철수 전까지는 거리 순찰도 자제하도록 한다는 내용도 포함된 것으로 알려졌습니다.
이에 대해 미국 정부는 어떠한 철수 시한에도 동의한 바 없다고 단언했지만 긍정적 진전이 있었다고 밝혔습니다.
과격 시아파 지도자 모크타다 알 사드르의 대변인은 미군 철군 계획에 명시된 시점에 실제로 미군 철수가 시작된다면 민병대가 무장 해제할 것이라고 제안했습니다.

Iraqi officials say Baghdad and Washington are close to a deal for U.S. combat
troops to leave Iraq by October, 2010.
They say the proposed timeline sets an initial target for U.S. troops to
withdraw from Iraqi cities and remain on their bases by June 30th, 2009. The
schedule could be amended depending on security conditions.
But U.S. officials say they have not agreed to any withdrawal dates.
They say there has been progress in security talks, but some issues remain in
dispute.
A spokesman for Moqtada al-Sadr said today (Friday) the influential
Shi'ite cleric will call on his militia to disarm if the United States begins
to pull troops out according to a set timetable.
Sadr has ordered several cease-fires which are attributed to a significant
reduction in violence over the past year.
