이란의 마무드 아마디네자드 대통령은 자국의 핵분규 문제를 세계 주요 강대국들과 외교적으로 해결하길 원한다고 말했습니다.
아마디네자드 대통령은 3일 관영 텔레비전 방송에 출연해 테헤란은 핵 회담에 진지하게 임하고 있다면서 상대측도 진지한 태도로 임하길 원한다고 말했습니다.
유엔안전보장이사회의 5개 상임이사국과 독일은 이란에 대해 일부 핵활동을 중단하는 대가로 자신들이 제시한 장려책을 수용하도록 하기 위한 비공식 시한을 지난 2일로 정했습니다. 그러나 이란은 이 시한까지 어떠한 확답도 제시하지 않았으며 유럽연합 관계관들은 이란이 이에 응답할 몇 일 동안의 여유를 갖고 있다고 말하고 있습니다.
앞서 2일 늦게 아마디네자드 대통령은 이란을 방문중인 시리아의 바샤르 알-아싸드 대통령에게 이란은 자국의 핵권리를 포기하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
그는 국제적인 핵 회담에 참여하는 것은 그같은 권리를 강화하기 위한 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his country wants to resolve its nuclear dispute with major world powers through diplomacy.
Mr. Ahmadinejad said Sunday on state-run television that Tehran is "serious" in nuclear talks and that he hopes the other side is serious as well.
The five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia) and Germany had given Iran an informal deadline of Saturday (August 2nd) to accept incentives for stopping some nuclear activities. Iran did not give a definitive answer by the deadline, but European Union officials say Tehran has "a few more days" to respond.
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni Sunday urged the major powers (in an interview on U.S. television) to respond quickly to the situation.
