미국 경제가 올 2.4 분기에 더디게 성장했습니다.
미 상무부는 31일 발표한 보고서에서 미국의 국내총생산 GDP가 지난 4월 부터 6월 사이 1.9% 올랐다고 밝혔습니다. 이는 지난 1.4분기에 비해 1% 높은 성장률입니다.
조지 부시 미국 대통령은 이날 웨스트 버지니아 주에서 석탄업계 관계자들과 만난 자리에서 이번 GDP 성장률이 당초 행정부의 기대에는 못미치지만 몇 달 전 나온 전망치 보다는 높다고 말했습니다.
전문가들은 미국 경제가 세금 환급 등, 경기부양책에 힘입어 지난 2.4분기에 성장률을 기록했다고 설명했습니다.

The U.S. economy expanded at a slow pace in the second
quarter of the year.
A Commerce Department report issued today (Thursday)shows the Gross
Domestic Product grew at an annual rate of one-point-nine percent. That is one
percent higher than the first quarter of the year.
U.S. President George Bush, speaking to a coal industry group (in West
Virginia)today, said the GDP report is not as strong as his administration
would have liked. But he said it is still better than what was forecast a few
months ago.
Analysts attribute the growth, in part, to government rebates issued to
taxpayers as part of an economic stimulus plan. But there are concerns that
those rebates are only providing a temporary solution for economic problems.
