제네바에서 열린 세계무역기구의 도하개발어젠더 (DDA) 무역협상이 회원국들이
농업 분야의 수입규정에 합의하지 못해 29일 끝내 결렬됐습니다.
미국과
개발도상국들은 신흥경제국들의 농민보호조치를 둘러싼 논쟁을 해결하지 못했다고 협상 소식통들은 이날 전했습니다. 양측은 상품에 대한 갑작스런 공급 증가나 가격 하락의 경우 농민들을 보호하기
위한 관세를 놓고 이견차를 보이고 있습니다.
앞서, 중국과 인도는 미국이 이 현안에 대해 협상을 거부하고 있다고 주장한 반면
미국은 이들 두 나라가 당초 이뤄진 합의를 철회했다고 주장했습니다.
도하개발어젠더 무역협상은 지난 2001년 시작된 이래 세계무역합의를 도출하는데 거의 진전을 보지 못하고 있습니다.

Officials say World Trade Organization talks in Geneva have collapsed after members were unable to reach a compromise on agricultural import rules.
Sources close to the negotiations said today (Tuesday)that the United States and developing countries were unable to settle a dispute over measures regarding protection of farmers in emerging economies.
The measures would have imposed tariffs to protect farmers in case of a sudden surge in goods on the market or a drop in prices.
Earlier, China and India accused the United States of refusing to negotiate on the issue while U.S. officials accuse them of backing out of an earlier agreement.
