터키 전투기들이 이라크 북부의 쿠르드족 반군 기지를 폭격해 무장대원들을 살해했다고 터키 군 당국이 밝혔습니다.
터키 군당국은 오늘 발표한 성명에서 40 명의 쿠르드 노동당 소속 반군들을 겨냥해 집중적인 폭격을 가했다고 밝혔습니다.
이번 폭격은 터키의 최대 도시 이스탄불에서 지난 27일 폭탄 테러 공격으로 모두 17명이 숨지고 1백50명이 다친 뒤 이뤄진 것입니다. 이번 폭탄 테러를 저질렀다고 주장하는 단체는 아직까지 나타나지 않고 있으나, 이스탄불 시장은 쿠르드 노동당과 관련있는 것으로 보인다고 밝혔습니다. 쿠르드 노동당은 이번 테러 사건과의 관련설을 부인하고 있습니다.

Turkey's military says its fighter jets have bombed Kurdish rebel targets in northern Iraq, killing an unspecified number of militants.
A military statement says the intensive bombing today (Tuesday)targeted
as many as 40 rebels of the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK. The military says
its warplanes destroyed a large cave in a mountainous region (Qandil) along
the Iraq-Iran border, where the rebels were hiding.
It says its forces also bombed a second rebel target (in the Zap region)near the Turkish border, but the military did not offer further details on that
strike.
The air strikes follow a deadly double bomb attack in Istanbul Sunday, in which
17 people were killed and 150 others wounded.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. But Istanbul Governor
Muammer Guler says they appear to be linked to the outlawed PKK. The group has
denied involvement.
