중국 당국은 베이징 올림픽 기간 동안 대기 오염이 계속될 경우, 베이징 시내 차량 운행 금지와 공장 가동 중단 조치를 더욱 확대할 것이라고 28일 밝혔습니다.
중국의 관영 차이나 데일리 신문은 베이징 대기오염을 줄이기 위해 이미 시행중인 조치들이 실패했음을 베이징 환경보호국이 인정했다고 보도했습니다.
중국 당국은 지난주 대기오염 감소를 위해 베이징 시내에서 1백만대 이상의 차량 운행을 금지했고, 7월 초에는 공해 유발 트럭30만대의 운행을 금지했습니다.
중국 당국은 이미 베이징 시와 인근 지역의 건설 공사와 공해물질을 내뿜는 공장들의 가동도 중단시켰습니다.

Chinese officials say they may ban more cars from Beijing's streets and close more factories if air pollution lingers during the Olympic Games.The official "China Daily" newspaper cited the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau as acknowledging that drastic steps already taken have failed to remove haze over the capital.
Last week, China banned more than a million cars from the streets of Beijing, in an effort to clean up the city's heavily polluted air.
At the beginning of the month, Beijing banned 300-thousand heavy-polluting trucks from the roads. The city and nearby provinces have also shut down construction projects and heavy-polluting factories.
The International Olympic Committee has said it may postpone long-distance endurance events if air pollution is too severe.
