유사프 라자 길라니 파키스탄 총리는 파키스탄 정부가 극단주의와 테러리즘에 맞서 싸울 것이라고 거듭 다짐했습니다.
길라니 총리는 25일 미국 공식 방문에 앞서 기자들에게 이 같이 말하고 극단주의와의 싸움은 파키스탄 자체의 과제이기도 하다고 말했습니다. 길라니 총리는 미국 방문 중 부시 대통령과 고위 관리들을 만날 예정입니다.
길라니 총리의 미국 방문은 파키스탄 북서부 부족지역에서 폭력이 계속되고 있는 가운데 이뤄지는 것입니다. 미국과 아프가니스탄 관리들은 파키스탄 정부에 아프간 국경지역에서 외국군과 아프간군을 공격하는 무장세력과 싸울 것을 촉구했습니다.
파키스탄 정부는 그러나 외국군이 무장세력에 대행해 파키스탄 영토 안에서 작전을 수행하는 것을 허가하지 않을 것이라고 거듭 말했습니다.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousaf
Raza Gilani vowed to fight terrorism as he embarked (today/Saturday)on
a visit to Washington to meet with U.S. President George Bush.
Prime Minister Gilani told reporters near Islamabad the fight against extremism
is Pakistan's own cause.
Mr. Gilani's trip comes as violence continues to rise in the tribal regions of
northwest Pakistan. U.S. and Afghan officials have called on Pakistan to fight
militants who launch attacks on Afghan and foreign forces along the Afghan
border.
The Pakistani government has repeatedly said it will not allow foreign forces
to conduct operations against militants on Pakistani soil.
