이번주초 콘돌리자 라이스 미국 국무장관은 이란이 우라늄 농축 활동을 중단하지 않을 경우 추가제재를 가할 것이라고 경고한 바 있습니다.
한편 이번 연설에서 아흐마디네자드 대통령은 이란 핵계획과 관련한 제네바 회의에 미국이 참석한 것은 "긍정적 진전"이라고 평가했습니다.

Iran's president says his country will not back down in the face of international pressure to suspend sensitive nuclear activities.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Iran will continue to pursue nuclear technology despite the efforts of what he called oppressive powers.
His comments came during a speech today (Wednesday) that was broadcast on Iranian television.
Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Iran could face additional sanctions if it does not suspend uranium enrichment.
Rice said Iran failed to give a serious response to a package of incentives during nuclear talks with world powers in Geneva Saturday. She warned that world powers are in the strongest possible position to return to sanctions if Iran does not act.
In his address today, the Iranian leader called the U.S. decision to send a representative to the Geneva talks a "positive step."
