세르비아 정부가 과거 보스니아계 세르비아의 지도자이자 전쟁범죄 용의자인 라도반 카라지치를 헤이그 국제 유고전범재판소로 이송해 대량학살과 반인륜 범죄 혐의에 대해 재판을 받게 하겠다고 발표했습니다.
세르비아의 전쟁범죄 담당 검사는 22일 수도 베오그라드에서 열린 기자회견에서, 법원이 카라지치의 이송 조건이 모두 충족됐다고 판결했다며 이같이 밝혔습니다. 카라지치의 변호인은
법원 판결에 항소하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
수백명의 세르비아계인들은 베오그라드에서 카라지치의 체포에
항의하며 경찰과 대치했습니다.
지난 12년 이상 도피생활을 해온 카라지치는 21일 베오그라드를 빠져나가려다 외국 정보요원의 첩보를 받은 세르비아 보안군에 체포됐습니다. 국제유고전범재판소는 카라지치를 90년대 보스니아 내전중에 비세르비아계 수천명의 학살을 지시한 혐의로 1995년 기소했습니다.
카라지치는 도피 기간중 가명을 가지고 대체의학 의사로 행세했다고 당국자들은 말했습니다.

A Serbian judge has ordered war-crimes suspect, former Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic, extradited to the United Nations war crimes tribunal to face charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
Serbian officials today (Tuesday) told a Belgrade news conference the judge ruled that all conditions for extradition had been met, following his arrest Monday.
A lawyer for Karadzic (Svetozar Vujacic)says he will challenge the extradition order.
News agencies report security forces tracked down Karadzic following a tip from a foreign intelligence service.
Meanwhile, several hundred Serbian nationalists scuffled with police in central Belgrade during a protest against the arrest.
Officials say Karadzic had been hiding in the city, practicing alternative medicine at a clinic under an assumed name.
Karadzic was on the run for more than 12 years. The Hague tribunal indicted him in 1995 for his role in the murders of thousands of non-Serb civilians during the conflict in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
