아프가니스탄 동부 쿠나라주의 미군기지에 13일 백명이 넘는 무장괴한들이 공격해와 9명의 미군이 사망했습니다.
북대서양 조약기구, 나토 대변인은 이번 공격이 치밀하게 계획된 작전이었다며 무장괴한들이 미군기지를 파괴하려고 시도했던 것이 분명하다고 밝혔습니다.
이번 공격은 2001년 미군 주도 연합군이 아프가니스탄을 침공한 이래 외국 주둔군에 가해진 가장 치명적 공격중 하나로 기록됐습니다. 이번 공격으로 인해 9명의 미군 사망자외에 15명의 미군과 4명의 아프간군이 부상했습니다.
한편 미군이 이끄는 연합군은 아프간 남부의 헬만드 지역에서 이틀간의 전투를 통해 40명의 무장요원들을 사살했다고 13일 밝혔습니다.

A NATO spokesman says a militant attack that killed nine U.S. soldiers in eastern Afghanistan Sunday was a complex, well-organized operation.
More than 100 militants attacked a newly-built base in the Kunar province. The spokesman says it is clear the militants wanted to overrun the base.
Sunday's attack was one of the deadliest against foreign troops in Afghanistan since the U.S.-led invasion in 2001. Fifteen U.S. soldiers and four Afghan troops were wounded during the incident.
Also on Sunday, the U.S.-led coalition said its forces killed at least 40 militants in two days of fighting in the southern province of Helmand.
