말리키 총리는 이 날 아랍에미리트연합에서 아랍권 대사들과 만나 이같이 밝혔습니다. 이라크 정부가 미군의 철군을 미국과의 보안 관련 협정에 포함된다고 한 것은 이번이 처음입니다. 부시 행정부는 철군 계획에 대해 반대하고 있습니다.
말리키 총리는 이라크는 미군의 철군이나 철군 계획을 위한 협정을 제안한다고 말했습니다.
알리 알 다바흐 이라크 정부 대변인은 '미국의 소리' 방송 측에 이같은 협정은 현재로서는 그저 제안일 뿐이라며 초안이 완성되지 않았다고 말했습니다.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says he is negotiating a proposed short-term security accord with the United States that could set a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.
Mr. Maliki's comments to Arab ambassadors in the United Arab Emirates today (Monday) mark the first time Iraq's government has made U.S. troop withdrawal part of a proposed security agreement with the United States. The Bush administration opposes a timetable.
Mr. Maliki says Iraq is proposing an accord for either the departure of U.S. troops, or for a withdrawal timetable.
Iraqi government spokesman Ali Al-Dabbagh tells VOA such an agreement is just a proposal at this point, and has not been drafted yet.
There was no immediate comment from U.S. officials.
Baghdad and Washington have been negotiating a new long-term security deal that would decide the future of U.S.-led forces in Iraq beyond 2008, when a U.N. mandate expires.
