두 의원은 경선 후 처음으로 대중들 앞에 함께 모습을 나타낸 자리에서, 경제와 환경, 의료혜택, 이라크 등 다양한 현안들에 관한 공통된 목표를 강조했습니다.
클린턴 의원은 자신과 오바마 의원이 그동안 경선 과정에서 "활발한 대화"를 가졌었다며, 이날 유니티에서 시작된 것은 오바마 후보가 미국 대통령에 당선됨으로써 워싱턴에서 끝날 것이라고 말했습니다. 클린턴 의원은 오는 11월 대선에서 투표를 하지 않거나 공화당의 존 맥케인 후보를 뽑을 생각인 자신의 지지자들에게 다시 생각할 것을 촉구했습니다.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama met up
with his formal rival Hillary Clinton for a show of unity in the
symbolically-chosen town of Unity, (in the northeastern state of) New
Hampshire.
In their first joint appearance after a bruising primary race, the pair
stressed their common goals on a wide range of issues, including the economy,
the environment, health care, and Iraq.
Clinton told the crowd that while the two had had what she called a
"spirited dialogue" during the primaries, what started today in Unity
will end in Washington with Obama becoming president. She urged any of her
supporters thinking of staying away from the polls, or voting for Republican
candidate John McCain, to reconsider.
Obama complimented Clinton with a slangy "She rocks." (eds note:

McCain spoke today to workers at a General Motors factory in Ohio. He praised
the company's efforts to develop hybrid and other alternate energy cars as a
way to help lessen American dependence on foreign oil.
