러시아의 드미트리 메드베데프 대통령은 러시아와 미국과의 관계를 다소 낙관적으로 보고 있다면서, 장래의 미국 행정부와의 건설적이고 우호적인 대화를 기대하고 있다고 말했습니다.
메드베데프 대통령은 11일 모스크바에서 열린 한 러시아 언론 포럼에서 다양한 주제에 관해 연설하면서 그같이 말했습니다. 메드베데프 대통령은 유럽에 미사일 방어체제를 구축하려는 미국의 계획 같은 안보 문제들에 두 나라 정부가 견해차이를 보이고 있음에도 불구하고, 러시아와 미국은 국제 안정을 유지하기 위해 협력해야 한다고 말했습니다.
또한 메드베데프 대통령은 기존의 냉전 조약들을 대체할 새로운 포괄적인 유럽안보협정을 다시 한 번 촉구했습니다. 메드베데프 대통령은 북대서양 조약기구 나토나 유럽안보협력기구 OSCE가 유럽 대륙의 냉전 후 안보 필요를 충족시킬 수 있을 것으로 생각하지 않는다고 말했습니다.

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev says he views Russian relations with the United States with "moderate optimism" and says he looks forward to what he calls "constructive and friendly dialogue" with any future U.S. administration.
Mr. Medvedev spoke today (Wednesday) in a wide-ranging address at a Russian media forum in Moscow. He said Russia and the United States must cooperate to maintain global stability, even as the two governments disagree on security issues such as the U.S. push to deploy a missile defense system in Europe.
The Russian leader also renewed his call for a new comprehensive European security pact to replace existing Cold War treaties. He said he does not believe that either NATO or the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe can by themselves meet the continent's post-Cold War security needs.
