U.S. President George Bush expressed concern about the economy and soaring energy prices in a brief statement before departing for Europe.
Speaking to reporters today (Monday) as he left the White House, Mr. Bush said a strong dollar is in the interest of the United States and the global economy.
Mr. Bush said U.S. capital markets are some of the deepest and most liquid in the world and that the long-term health of the U.S. economy will be reflected in the value of its currency.
He also said he will talk about the U.S. commitment to a strong dollar with European leaders during his week-long trip.
