올메르트 총리는 3일 라이스 장관과 만납니다. 두 사람은 모두 친 이스라엘 로비단체인 '미국-이스라엘 공공문제위원회', AIPAC 에서 연설을 할 계획입니다.
라이스 장관은 이 날 연설에서 이스라엘과의 공통적인 견해라며, 이란이 핵 무기를 개발하는 데 대해 우려를 표명할 예정입니다.
이에 앞서 다나 페리노 백악관 대변인은 오는 4일로 예정된 올메르트 총리와 부시 대통령과의 회담은 팔레스타인 평화 협상에 초점이 맞춰질 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 페리노 대변인은 부시 대통령은 올 해 말까지는 팔레스타인 국가 건설을 목표로 하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
한편, 이스라엘 신문은 올메르트 총리에 미국에 대해 최신 레이더 장비와 새로운 전투비행기를 구매할 것을 요청할 것이라고 보도했습니다.

Israeli prime Minister Ehud Olmert is in Washington for a three-day visit that will include meetings with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and U.S. President George Bush.
Mr. Olmert is meeting with Rice today (Tuesday) and both are addressing the leaders of pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC.
In her address to AIPAC, Rice outlined U.S. concerns that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, a viewed shared by Israel.
Earlier today, White House press secretary Dana Perino said Mr. Olmert's discussions with President Bush on Wednesday will focus on Palestinian peace negotiations. She said Mr. Bush's goal is to define a Palestinian state by the end of the year.
Israeli newspapers report Mr. Olmert also will ask the U.S. about acquiring an advanced radar system and new warplanes.
Perino said Mr. Bush is not focused on a corruption investigation involving Mr. Olmert.
The Israeli leader has rejected calls to resign following allegations that he received bribes from a U.S. businessman.
