프랑스의 베르나르 큐슈네르 외무장관이 오늘 회담을 위해 이틀간의 일정으로 이라크를 깜짝 방문했습니다.
큐슈네르 장관은 남동부 시가 반군의 로켓 공격을 당한 지 몇 시간 뒤 나지리야에 도착했습니다.
큐슈네르 장관은 이라크의 아델 압둘 마흐디 부통령을 만날 예정입니다. 큐슈네르 장관은 또, 다른 이라크의 원로급 관료들과도 회동할 예정이며 이라크 북부 도시 아르빌에 프랑스 외교사무소도 개설할 것으로 보입니다.
큐슈네르 장관은 이번 방문이 프랑스가 이라크 문제에 여전히 관심이 있다는 것을 보여주기 위한 것과 이라크의 재건과정을 지원하기 위한 것이라고 말했습니다.
한편 바그다드에서 미군은 특별범죄 집단이라고 부르는 집단의 고위급 지도자를 체포했다고 밝혔습니다.
특별범죄집단은 미군이 사용하는 용어로 이란의 지원을 받는 시아파 반군을 의미합니다.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner has made a surprise trip to Iraq for two days of talks.
Kouchner arrived in Nasiriyah today (Saturday), hours after the southeastern city was hit a rocket attack by militants. He is expected to meet with Iraq's vice president, Adel Abdul-Mahdi.
Kouchner is also expected to meet with other senior Iraqi officials and open a new French diplomatic office in the northern city of Irbil.
The French Foreign Ministry says the visit is part of France's effort to reengage Iraq and offer help in the rebuilding process.
In another development, U.S. led forces in Baghdad said today they have captured a senior leader of what they called a "Special Groups criminal ring." Special groups is a term used by the military to describe Shi'ite insurgents backed by Iran.
