쿠바의 관타나모에 있는 미군 교도소에 수감됐던 수단 출신 아랍어 텔레비전 방송의 카메라 기사, 사미 알 하지가6년간의 수감생활을 마치고 수단으로 귀국했습니다.
미군 군용기를 타고 수단의 수도 카르툼에 도착한 알 하지는 곧바로 병원으로 후송됐습니다.
알 하지는 아랍어 뉴스방송인 알 자지라의 카메라 기사로 일하다, 지난 2001년 파키스탄 군에 생포돼 미군 당국에 넘겨졌습니다.알 하지는 2002년 이후 관타나모 미군 교도소에서 기소돼지 않은 채 계속 수감돼 왔습니다.
알 하지는 알자지라 방송과의 인터뷰에서 관타나모 수감자들이 인간이하의 대우를 받고 있으며 상황이 계속 악화되고 있다고 말했습니다.

A Sudanese television news photographer is back on his native soil after being held for six years at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Sami al-Haj was immediately taken to a hospital after arriving today (Friday) in the Sudanese capital Khartoum aboard a U.S. military plane.
Al-Haj was a cameraman for Arabic news channel Al-Jazeera when he was seized by Pakistani forces in late 2001 and turned over to U.S. authorities. He had been held without charge at the U.S.naval base since 2002.
He told Al-Jazeera that "rats are treated with more humanity" than detainees at Guantanamo, and that the situation is worsening each day.
Al-Jazeera aired footage of al-Haj greeting his young son upon his arrival in Khartoum.
