Leaders of Pakistan's coalition government have reached a deal to reinstate judges fired by President Pervez Musharraf under a state of emergency last year.

Mr. Sharif (leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party) told reporters today (Thursday) that two days of talks with Pakistan People's Party leader Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai had yielded positive results.
Mr. Sharif had threatened to pull out of the coalition if the two sides did not reach an agreement on how to reinstate about 60 high court judges.
Zardari had insisted on linking their reinstatement to constitutional reforms. But Mr. Sharif rejected the request and called for the judiciary to be restored unconditionally to what it was before last year's six-week state of emergency.
