Zimbabweans are waiting for the release of results from last month's presidential election, which state media say could be coming soon.
Members of Zimbabwe's electoral commission say recounts from 23 voting districts will likely be finished today (Monday). The officials say the commission will then invite the presidential candidates or their representatives to verify the results.
Comments from the commission chairman (George Chiweshe) indicated that meeting could happen as early as today. But, there was no word of such a meeting by mid-afternoon local time.
A spokesman for the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (Nelson Chamisa) tells VOA that the party has no confidence in the commission's results.
The MDC says its candidate Morgan Tsvangirai defeated President Robert Mugabe in the March 29th election. The electoral commission has received fierce international criticism for failing to release the results.
