선거관리위원회는 23개 선거구에서 대통령, 의회, 지방의회 선거결과를 재검표할 예정입니다.
짐바브웨 선거관리위원회는 지난 달 29일 대통령 선거가 실시된 후 3주가 지났음에도 불구하고 아직까지 그 결과를 발표하지 않고 있습니다.
짐바브웨의 야당인 민주변화동맹 (MDC)은 모건 창기라이 후보가 로버트 무가베 현 대통령을 누르고 승리했다고 주장하고 있습니다.
의회 선거에서는 야당이 승리한 것으로 발표됐습니다.
그러나 23개 선거구에서 재검표가 실시되면 결과가 바뀔 가능성도 있습니다.
짐바브웨 고등법원은 18일 재검표를 중단시키려는 야당의 요구를 거부했습니다.
담당 판사인 안토니아 구바나 씨는 “그럴 가치가 없다”며 야당의 요구를 기각했습니다. (JJB)
Election officials in Zimbabwe have begun a partial recount of votes from last month's disputed election.
The electoral commission plans to conduct a recount of the presidential, parliamentary, and local council votes from 23 constituencies.
The commission has not yet released results of the presidential vote which was held three weeks ago (on March 29th).
The opposition Movement for Democratic Change says its candidate Morgan Tsvangirai defeated President Robert Mugabe in the presidential race.
In the parliamentary race, the opposition has been named the winner. However, the recount in 23 constituencies could overturn those results.
Friday, the opposition lost a bid with the High Court to stop the partial recount. A judge (Antonio Guvava) dismissed the petition, saying it has "no merit."
