A new U.S. report says terrorists are still operating along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, despite billions of dollars in U.S. aid to fight militants there.
A report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, GAO, released today says Washington has given Pakistan more than 10-point-five billion dollars in military and economic aid.
Still, the GAO says, the U.S. has failed to meet its security goal to destroy terrorist threats and eliminate safe havens in the tribal regions along the border.
The government watchdog agency also says the United States does not have a comprehensive plan to deal with the terrorism threat in Pakistan.
The GAO recommends the federal government formally integrate plans of various agencies into one comprehensive strategy, as called for by the U.S. Congress.
